Recent Drawings
The latest drawings start with a simple form which then builds organically into a larger form. As I am drawing I am thinking about conveying movement and consciously considering the negative space. There is an expression “nature abhors a vacuum” which is attributed to Aristotle and modern physics expands that idea to a quantum vacuum state in which fleeting particles and anti-particles briefly pop in and out of existence. In the drawings I want to make empty spaces as alive as the drawn forms and in a non-representational way express the living need to grow and expand.
